Not understanding the negative reviews I've seen here..or maybe Lighthouse gang has stepped up their game. You can tell the quality of a restaurant by the bread they serve pre-dinner. This bread was as good as mom used to make. The corn chowder was to die for. John, our waiter was superb. My GF had Alaskan King Crab legs and couldn't get over the generous portion and how great the were I had the pecan encrusted walleye and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend if you're in Mackinaw City area.

Let's open with the good: The Corn Chowder. It was great. Also there were some pretty good garnishes. Then the not so good: My group all said that their dishes were a bit heavy on the pepper. We ordered some meat dishes, steak and prime rib. They were on the fatty side. Pretty much half of the total ounces. Staff: We were seated relatively fast, and our server accommodated us pretty fast, the first time, then slower and slower. We had to send back two of our orders because they were too done. Overall: eh, and very pricey. Fair...

I had the king crab legs and my girlfriend had the pan fried walleye. Both dishes were very delicious! I'd definitely come back again!!!

Note: this is a review of appetizers and service only. Our visit here was late evening and our appetites were light. We were seated immediately and waited about 5 min for drink orders. Our server at first seemed apprehensive but warmed up after some casual questions about the menu and upcoming holiday. We ordered the crab cakes and the calamari. Both were delightfully prepared and seasoned. Prices seemed about what I'd expect for these appetizers. Other entree items were pricey along the fine dining range. Sorry we cannot offer a full dining experience review. we will go back next time we visit the area.

The service was good. The lobster and corn chowder were good but the steak was bad. I asked for medium rare it came well done. I had to drink water just to get the two bites of the steak down that I ate. Defiantly not worth the $220.00 we paid for four people. Very disappointing.

Wouldn't go back. We visited since we were staying across the street and just got back from the island. We ordered the parmesan encrusted chicken & whitefish. The whitefish was good, but the meal certainly wasn't worth $26. The chicken was only one small filet and it was mediocre--definitely not worth $23. We hear the corn chowder is the best, but we didn't get to try since they were out--this was understandable since we arrived late in the evening. But service was below average. The waitress only followed up with us once after the entree and disappeared again. We had to find our own butter from other tables and ask other staff members for more drinks. You get more for the value at Red Lobster in my opinion. Pretty disappointing.

Ordered garden salad, lobster, and king crab legs. Very fresh and tenders. On the pricey side, but worth with good services and freshness

Main course was good, crab cake appetizer was undercooked and lacked an intended crisp. (flavor was good). Potatoes with sauce were bland. Overall ok good but not worth what we paid. It seems they rely on sauces to make their dishes better. I expect higher quality from a restaurant that sets their prices at this level. Overall, try a different restaurant if you're here for a day and think about putting this one on your menu if you run out of places

Definitely a "fine dining" experience. The food was not ordinary or basic but flavorful and interesting. My husband had the whitefish special and I had the coconut shrimp, both meals were very good. The red skin potatoes had a delicious sauce and I was delighted by the tasty spaghetti squash as the vegetable. Presentation was lovely and the service was pleasant and attentive without being disruptive. While the meal was on the pricy side, we felt that we got our money's worth, (unlike at several other restaurants in town). This is not a place for young children but for an "elegant dining" experience we would certainly return.

We just had dinner here and the experience was wonderful! My husband had the prime rib which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Lemon Caper Whitefish which, with every bite, made me close my eyes and moan with delight. Prices are high, but with an appetizer, salad, baked potato, bread and veggies, neither of us left hungry. The decor was not overdone and the lighting was low but more than adequate. We were so happy that we chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner! Not only were our meals delicious, but the wait staff was attentive and our waitress in particular was very sweet.

Majority of the wait staff was not too friendly (and most could barely speak English, not even enough to say "hi my name is.." or "how are you this evening?".. common manners) The all you can eat crabs were delicious but our waiter also ignored us for quite some time, we werent too pleased having to wave him down every time we needed more Not the best quality service, but not the worst either

Oh man, where do I start, and how do I say it... We checked yelp before coming in, and I should've listen. That was one time where I could've saved $$$ thanks to yelp. But no, it was late and we were looking for food in Mackinaw City, and most places were closed and I wanted good food and local fish and this place looked pretty good. The good: The broccoli soup was very good. Drinks were good. Reasonably priced vines and my gin martini was good and strong. The bad: I went there to try local fish. All the fish dishes started at $23. There was 5 choices for whitefish. I went with lemony capers souse whitefish for $25. It was a whitefish, baked while completely covered with what looked and tasted like mayonnaise. After I plowed all the maynoaise to one side I could finally find and eat the fish. That dish should've been $7 tops. NOT $25. Crabcakes appetizer was absolutely nothing special, two small pieces, again very overpriced. Gordon Ramsay would have a field day with this restaurant. They price average food at Michelin 3* prices. Only location saves them. I doubt anybody comes back to pay $$$ for average food, but they have fresh out of town customers (who don't yelp) every day, and that's saves them.

This review is based on one visit but it was a good one. By far the best meal we had in our 4 day stay. As many people have posted of this area good eating places are lacking. I had the all you can eat crab (and baked potato ...also good). The crab was tasty and easy to get out unlike that stuff you get at a chinese buffett. The gf said her prime rib was very good also.

a very overpriced diner. There aren't really any fine dining restaurants in the area but they market themselves as one anyway. The atmosphere is that of a diner. The food is very mediocre. We had a buffet that was nearly $16 per person. The choices were limited and the food was not up to par with the price. I will not be returning.

I was completely disappointed in my experience at this restaurant. I should have known that it was going to be miserable when they got our reservation wrong. Service was slow, although there were empty tables. We waited 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order then another 10 for her to return with said drinks. And THEN she left again before taking our meal order. We had been seated for 30 minutes before the bread and salads came, and SIXTY minutes before the entrees came. There was no explanations about the status of our meals. When the food finally came I was expecting a fine dining experience and what I got was something around high school cafeteria level. All this for $30 a plate? The whitefish that was supposedly fresh from the market was so dry that it crumbled, it was beyond "flaking." The seasonal vegetable was spaghetti squash which was not advertised anywhere, not even by the abysmal wait staff. Each plate had varying amounts of the vegetable, but heavily garnished with multiple carved vegetables. Too bad they didn't take the same care with the food we were SUPPOSED to eat. Apparently the kitchen staff were trained only to steam the "all you can eat" crab legs that were featured. They had no idea how to cook anything else. The chef and owners ought to be embarrassed about this place. I hope that it was an "off" night. Certainly the earlier reviews are much more positive. I cannot say the same.

Inconsistent food quality and less than stellar service. They advertise themselves as seafood specialists. The four of us who ordered seafood in our party of 9 were disappointed. Overcooked, dry fish is not what we expected. On the other hand the 5 people who ordered various steaks were all 100% sold on the place. Service was slow and some of us who would have had another drink were never asked.

Pretty decent, actually. For a buffet, the food was good. My husband got the cod and really likes it. Everything was fresh, service was good, overall good experience.

Major disappointment. Wanted something other than a burger , so this seemed like a good choice. We will never return. Decor was from the eighties. Staff was dressed like cocktail waitresses (but far too old to be doing so). Bus staff (Female) was wearing a plain white t-shirt. Not appropriate for the prices they charge. Big band music was too loud to have a quiet conversation. The food was awful. We all agreed it tasted pre-packaged. The Italian bread was stale and tasted like it was from a bag. I had the steak special. I had to cut over a third of it off because it was pure fat. It tasted pan fried and was gray like it had been frozen at some point. My wife's ribs had little meat and the sauce tasted canned. My son's fried shrimp was $23 and came with waffle fries that were over cooked. He refused to eat any of it. My other son had pasta that was ok, but he said the sauce was cold. In the end the 4 of us spent over $100 before tip and left most of the food on our plates.

Food was pretty good--service just "OK". We went on a Friday evening and had the buffet--chicken, shrimp, whitefish, potatoes, green beans, etc.

Inhospitable! My family and I have eaten here for years and always enjoyed ourselves until today. From the hostess, to Jack the manager, we were treated poorly. We arrived with 11 people for the All You Can Eat Crab, which we were all dreaming about all day. Simply stated, the restaurant was half full and the manager refused to sit us together. They had three perfectly good four tops that were all next to one another and another table of 12 in the same dining room yet the manager Jack refused to push them together for us. To add insult to injury Jack was nasty and abrasive to my wife in front of our parents, kids, and brother & sister in law. Eating down the road at Nona Lisa now! Talk about service!!! Turns out that the Lighthouse is under new ownership and management. Might want to skip this place...such a shame. Gave Jack an opportunity to fix the problem too. He could have cared less...Bad move Jack!

We just dined there and the all you can eat crab was very very salty and it cost us $76 for two of us. We also ordered a grilled trout dish along with the NY steak special. The steak was good however this place has really slow service as we had to call someone after 15-20 min to come take our order. The bus staff had really bright colored shirts and saw them spraying table cleaning solution right on the salt and pepper shakers. Overall the food was decent (besides the crab) but definitely quality could use improvement for the price of each dish.

Wish I could leave a zero. Worst meal I've had in ages. My family stayed in Mackinaw City for a night and walked past the restaurant. The menu seemed ok and it was close so we stopped in. I ordered the Prime RIb Sandwich, the waitress suggested mashed potatoes and gravy. What I got was some meat on two pieces of white bread, swimming in a deep pool of gravy, hard to tell there was anything under the gravy. My wife had fish(perch) and chips, the skin was on the perch, gross. One daughter had chicken tenders, ate one and stopped. My other daughter had a pork chop with mushrooms, even she ate about 1/4 of the chop and stopped as it was tough and dry, with the mushrooms definitely not tasting fresh. Her veggies were the classic frozen combo of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, boring. It's as if the staff in the front of the house and in the kitchen have stopped caring about cooking anything approaching good food, or providing reasonable customer service. I will be avoiding this place and would suggest you do so also. By the way, it's also way overpriced, especially the lack of quality of the food..
